HOW YOUR BUSINESS CAN GET INVOLVED

The People’s Kitchen relies entirely on the goodwill of the North East business community to support the homeless and vulnerable by funding essential services. In the current economic climate, we are experiencing increased financial hardship. Without help from the private sector, our services may be cut back at the very time our Friends need us the most.

If your business can support us, your generous donation will be carefully managed by our Board of Trustees who make sure that funds and goods are used to the maximum benefit of our Friends. As we are run entirely by volunteers, you can be sure that no staff salaries are taken out of your contributions. If your business would like to support our local community and become affiliated with a widely respected and valued organisation, there are many ways you can help us below.

Financial support

Our costs for running The Kitchen include the food, clothing, furniture, electricity, insurance, petrol and office supplies, amongst other basic bills. We gratefully accept ongoing or one-off donations from businesses which are in a position to help. If that is you, please get in touch.

Sponsorship

Sponsorship is a flexible way for businesses to get involved in The People’s Kitchen. You can sponsor one of our vehicles or some of our many annual events. Alternatively, your business could sponsor an individual Friend through work experience or have your whole network sponsor you in aid of The People’s Kitchen.

Donations

If you have any end-of-line products or surplus stock, we can put it to great use at The People’s Kitchen. If you have donations that could support our work, please get in touch and we can advise on the items we are in need of.

Professional expertise

We can always benefit from professional skills and expertise from both businesses and their employees. In particular we regularly need help from solicitors, architects, insurance providers, accountants and building security and maintenance experts.

KITCHEN CHAMPIONS

The ‘Kitchen Champions’ project aims to recruit ambassadors from major North East businesses. The Kitchen Champion will promote our cause to the rest of their organisation, helping to run appeals on a seasonal basis, and spreading the word about our work.

CHARITY CHALLENGES

Unleash the creativity and goodwill of your team by holding a charity challenge within your business. In the past, businesses have organised charity auctions, a Christmas ball, bungee jumps, dress down Fridays, bake sales, or even embarked on the Great North Run.

SUPPORTED VOLUNTEERS

Encourage staff to volunteer for us through your company policy. Policies such as a recognition system for volunteers, celebrating National Volunteering Week, allowing staff to use company time for volunteering, or giving lieu for weekly volunteer hours can create a huge volunteer network for us.

SUPPORT A FRIEND

Your business could guide our Friends on the pathway to a better future by supplying training, offering work experience or teaching them to develop new skills. Whatever sector of business you are in, we’d love to hear about how you could support our Friends.

PAYROLL GIVING

Payroll Giving allows your employees to give direct to any UK charity straight from their salary, before tax is deducted. This method of giving is great for them as well as for us. Please get in touch if you’d like to find out more about how to set this up.
