You have the power to transform a life
Individual people are the backbone of impactful charity work. The People’s Kitchen was established over 30 years ago by just one person, and it’s down to the generosity of others that we have been able to continue to offer support the homeless and our Friends. No matter how small you might think your contribution is, it’s a vital part of the community that makes The People’s Kitchen so powerful. Whether you can give up some time and join our army of volunteers, or you’d like to make a monetary donation, your actions will directly improve the lives of vulnerable people in Newcastle.
Every person working at The People’s Kitchen is doing so voluntarily, and we are always looking for new people to join us. Volunteering is fun, fulfilling and provides loads of rewards, such as developing new skills and meeting great people. To view our current vacancies, please take a look at our volunteer page.
Since we receive no Government funding, every donation is valuable to us, no matter how large or small. There are many ways to make your donation, and because we are run solely by volunteers, you can rest assured that every penny goes directly to supporting our Friends.
Leave a legacy
There is a huge comfort in knowing that you can continue helping others after death. By leaving a gift to The People’s Kitchen in your Will, you’ll be supporting us into the future and ensuring that our doors remain open to our ever-growing group of Friends.
If you are unable to donate money or time, there are still ways you can support us. We distribute clothing and brand-new sleeping bags to our Friends. This keeps them warm and makes life on the street a little more bearable. You can see which items we need most on our Amazon Wish List.
If you’re a thinking of holding a fundraising event, we’d be incredibly grateful to be your chosen charity. It could be anything from organising a work event, to completing a sponsorship activity such as a run, cycle or even sky-diving event. Download our Sponsor Form to help you fundraise, and please get in touch to let us know so we can promote your event.
The ‘Kitchen Champions’ programme aims to recruit ambassadors from major North East businesses. As your company’s Kitchen Champion, you can promote our cause to the rest of your team by helping to run appeals on a seasonal basis and spreading the word about our work.
