Since 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic meant we were forced to close our doors and serve meals to our Friends using an outdoor take-away system. While this allowed us to continue providing meals for our Friends, it was no substitute for the full service we were previously able to provide.
With this in mind, we are delighted to announce that following a successful trial period, we are finally able to open our doors and invite our Friends inside. This is a huge step forward for us, and we’re very excited to be able to return to our full service, particularly as the nights are growing longer and colder. Being able to invite our Friends inside also means we can do more to relieve loneliness and boost wellbeing for people who feel isolated or struggle with their mental health.
Now that our doors are open once again, there’s never been a better time to volunteer. If you would like to help us keep our doors open and provide a vital lifeline to support homeless and disadvantaged people in Newcastle, please visit our Volunteering page for more information.
